It does not have to be all bad, lets ignore ambush matches for the moment. In every other gamemode we have the redline and can call in as many tanks as the opposing team have deployed. It does make the battlefield more challenging and dynamic, I am not a tanker and have currently no SP in tanks.
In the open maps you will now need LAVs or dropships for transportation of infantry to avoid the tanks. And the tanks are having some epic tank battles.
It takes time getting used to the tanks being all over the place. The roles have changed for how to counter these tanks, a sneaky scout that avoids the tanks scanners and can place droplinks close to the objectives becomes necessary. I receive tons of warpoints by sneaking around, not spamming droplinks, but placing them strategically close to red nullcanons, and then move on to the next nullcanon if it is defended or hack it.
I am not a happy scout after 1.7, not due to tanks but due to my already fragile scout suit getting shredded by the new rifles in milliseconds.
Less forge guns and AV in general give dropships more room to fly around and do their thing.
Lets see if we are not managing to find a new balance in Dust between tanks and infantry. The cost of tanks are cheap which increases the risc of running your expensive proto suits. I actually like the new battlefield, if they would just increase the TTK a little or decrease all four AR types dps. |
